Practice Labs Overview
For this set of lab examples, we start with the initial topology shown in the diagram below. Six edge routers are located in four different sites: Data center (Site-id 1), Branch (Site-id 3), Campus (Site-id 4), and Cloud (Site-id 6). The routers run IOS-XE 17.18, while the controllers run Vitpela OS 20.18. There is no policy applied to any device.
Notice that all orange interfaces use the same WAN transport (they connect to the same underlay network – basically the same router) and are marked with the biz-internet color. On the other hand, all green interfaces use the other transport and are marked with the mpls color. Also, notice that the Campus routers have only one transport connection.
For now, we do not show the LAN side of each location (service-side VPNs) because the next few practice labs focus only on the transport side of the WAN edge routers (VPN 0). Later, when we move to service-side routing, we will include the LAN side and the traditional routing.
Lastly, notice that the Internet and the MPLS transport networks are not interconnected. The MPLS underlay has no access to the Internet and vice versa, but routers reach each other.
